Fix how we elect our representatives.
Ranked-choice voting and nonpartisan primaries give voters real choice and reduce the extremism that comes from closed primaries. I will champion these reforms as a Forward Party priority at the Capitol.
Our elections should reward the candidate who best represents the district — not just the candidate who survives a closed partisan primary. Right now, too many voters feel like their real choice gets made before the general election even starts.
Ranked-choice voting lets voters rank candidates by preference instead of picking just one, so more voices get counted and candidates have to earn broad support rather than just appeal to their party's base.
Nonpartisan primaries open the process to every voter, regardless of party registration, and reduce the incentive for candidates to chase the most extreme wing of their party to win a primary. As a Forward Party candidate, championing these reforms at the Capitol is one of my top priorities.
